The kids got it this year, and snuck into bed the whole last week counting down.
So excited.
When we finally woke them to open presents Cades response was "but it wasn't snowing."
It couldn't be Christmas. When I looked confused (because it doesn't snow here)
his response was.. "but in the movies mom.. it snows on Christmas".
And thus my 3 year old is starting with un realistic expectations.
Craziness.
This month the no sugar diet was way tricky, but I did it.
The tastses of the month were not sugar cookies, and ham.
They were cuties, and pistachios, with some peppermint tea.
We did do some yummy breakfasts for the kids.
Like Christmas Eve's Reindeer cakes.
The sounds of the month, were filled with our crackly record player.
Also the crisp sounds of technology.
With the new She & Him holiday album.
With Joel Rakes.
Mindy Smith, my holiday.
The sounds were also lots of laughter,
and bickering between the kids.
Its new. I dislike it a lot.
Or the sound of the cheesy 80's keyboard Cade got.
And how Rylan calls it a compiano.
Or then us laughing, again. Its so sweet. And how Rylan calls it a compiano.
The textures of the month, oh they were plenty.
Its been unuasually cold the entire month, except christmas day which was 73.
We have been bundled in soft chunky scarves, wool slippers, big comfy coats.
Fighting to feel warm.
Always with a blanket on the couch, bundled.
We survived almost the whole month of December without illness. Oh, until last night, poor Nick.
Oh the sights,
twinkling lights, and candles fill the house.
Messes of wrapping paper, somewhere as we remembered one more gift, one more gift. Green bakers twine, and white lace.
And oh the sight on Christmas, of all that paper, strewn everywhere.
I had read the qoute on Christmas Eve. That the mess made Christmas morning, is one of the sweetest ones and not to clean it up too quickly. So I never did. I figured thats what the day after was for.
And speaking of messes, there was one, almost the entire month, as Rylan was very busy whipping up gifts for Everyone. Just cutting up paper, into the tiniest of bits, working most dilligently.
The sight of the kids dancing togethor watching the nutcracker on Christmas Eve, a favorite.
Or the one where Cade danced on stage on christmas Eve, pure joy filled his face. He is quite the ham.
There was also that sight of my husband helping me sew away the last few Christmas gifts. Good man. Good man.
And my nose, well its been completely delighted with Ms. Myers holiday soaps.
Also in love with cocunut scents lately.
Not super holiday'y. But whatever right.
Not too much some very lovely Anthro soaps gifted to me by a dear friend.
The soap gave me such a giggle in store, that we had to go home with it.
Almond Honey. yum.
